Abstract Design - Be Bold With Patterns

You cannot think of abstract art without thinking of Picasso, with his bright patterns, bold colors, and vibrant geometric shapes. The abstract design infuses a room with tons of personality, so you definitely can’t hold back here. Think unusual - what seems unconventional but still manages to draw your eye?

If you have a favorite statement color, this is the place to make that statement. You don’t have to be consistent with abstract design - in fact, you’re going for a sense of organized chaos. Circles, squares, and loud colors - those are all the hallmarks of an excellent abstract room.

Retro Glam - Go Back To The Time Of Extravagance

If you’re more of a retro-glam personality, then you may want to veer towards a more understated sophistication. Deep jewel tones are home for you - royal blues, emerald greens, and ruby reds, and all brought together with precious gold. The one word that underlines this style is luxurious.

It’s all very reminiscent of the 1920's, and that’s precisely the way you like it. Look for eclectic pieces in complementary hues and shapes. Mid-century modern pieces could be great for what you’re looking for, as long as they are still comfortable. Retro glam doesn’t discount the need to lay back and relax after a long day at the office!

Curved Furniture

Curved furniture is very boho-chic, harkening to the 1970s and its laid-back vibes. They give off a great balance of contemporary and antique, but even more interesting are the studies that show curved silhouettes induce a sense of harmony and relaxation.

Use curvy furniture instead of big, boxy, linear sofas as a central element in your room to enhance the sense of warmth - mix and match with some geometric patterns or different fabrics to top it off! Consider using similar shapes throughout the room to keep the flow soft and smooth. A circular coffee table and soft, flowy materials can make the room a respite from the rest of the world..

Japandi - Minimalistic Japan Meets Modern Scandinavia

This is a brand new trend coming out. However, the concept is elegantly simple: take the futuristic modern aesthetic of Scandinavian design and combine it with the sharply minimal and timeless style of Japanese design, and you have Japandi design.

The two styles compliment each other flawlessly - consider their clean lines, neutral colors, minimalism, and desire for uncluttered surfaces. As far as materials go, focus on silks and pale woods. Since this is a hybrid style, don’t be afraid to introduce some oriental prints or rustic Scandinavian elements! Bright lighting and recessed fixtures will go a long way in completing this look.

Sustainable Design - Green Design Leading The Way

With our increased focus on sustainable resources, it should be no surprise that sustainable design is a current interior design trend. This simply means utilizing recycled and climate-neutral materials, Eco-friendly resources, and pale, calming tones in your design.

Sustainable designs typically take advantage of natural light whenever possible, which means lots of large windows, preferably with tempered glass for climate control. An added bonus to that can see nature outside your window!

Carpets are excellent thermal insulators, as they can retain up to 10% of a room’s warmth - saving you a whole lot on electricity during the colder months!
